Two kites in the air

Thank a School Board Member

January is School Board Recognition Month and Groesbeck ISD is joining other districts across the state to thank these community volunteers for their commitment and contributions to our public schools.

“School board members serve countless hours working to make public education the best it can be for every child,” said Interim Superintendent, Bill Tarleton. In a climate of change and challenge, they develop policies and make tough decisions on complex educational and social issues that affect the entire community and the lives of individual students. They bear responsibility and oversight in Groesbeck ISD for approximately 1865 students in grades PK3 to 12th; 295 employees; and four campuses.

“Preparing today’s students to be productive citizens and the leaders of tomorrow is a tremendous task. As elected officials, school board members are the voice of their communities, serving first and foremost in the best interest of our schoolchildren,” said Tarleton.

“We proudly salute these education advocates as they provide vision and leadership for student achievement, academic programs, district funding, and school facilities. Their service ensures that decisions about local public schools are made by those most familiar with the needs of our community’s children and families,” said Tarleton. “These dedicated individuals deserve recognition and thanks for their unfailing commitment to the continuing success of our students now and in the future,” he said.

The men and women serving Groesbeck ISD are Mika Morgan, Randy Hunter, Bridgett Jackson-Tatum, Tom Sutton, Aslone Foy, Ronnie Ferguson and Bill David Sadler.

“Great leadership always begins with a willing heart, a positive attitude, and a desire to make a difference. Please join us as we applaud these local leaders for helping our kids soar to success,” Tarleton said.

Texas Educators Care Enough to VoteThe GISD Board of Trustees signed a Resolution to encourage District employees and eligible students to participate in the election process.  “Educators and their allies think about the 5.4 million kids in Texas schools every moment of every day, but the moment when they have the most power is when they cast their vote!  Share the Oath with: teachers, counselors, administrators, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, custodians, aides, school board trustees, PTA members, other district employees and their families, and community members. All of these people are considered educators as they support and enrich the educational experience of our children.” from the Texas Association of Community Schools letter regarding Texas Educators Vote Update (10/19/2017).

Student
Online Registration
Now OPEN

Groesbeck ISD Families!  Gone are the days of filling out dozens of forms by hand at the start of every school year.  GISD has made going back to school easier for new and returning families with Online Registration.  Click on the PowerSchool icon below or visit Student Info, Registration.

Parents can now complete most of the required forms online.  EVERY returning student will be assigned a “snapcode” that will be given out at the beginning of the school year – so please check with your child’s campus!  New students do not need a snapcode to register for the first time.  If you do not have access to a computer, please visit your child’s campus where one will be provided.
