Groesbeck ISD
Return to School Safety Plan

Groesbeck ISD has created the Return to School Safety Plan to guide the return to in-person instruction. As school begins, we are looking forward to seeing everyone! We do recognize that many questions still exist, and we are working to provide answers. Your child's teacher and campus principal will have the most up-to-date and specific information for your student.

Groesbeck ISD follows the guidance and expertise of national and local health officials to help protect our students and staff from all communicable diseases. The district is aware that The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is monitoring an outbreak of respiratory illness (COVID-19) caused by a novel (new) coronavirus. Families are encouraged to visit the CDC website for more information.

Changes to the public health situation over the course of the school year may necessitate changes to the Groesbeck ISD Return to School Safety Plan.

P-EBT and Groesbeck ISD

Groesbeck ISD has received several calls regarding the P-EBT denials.  Groesbeck ISD did not deny P-EBT services.  We only enter the data from the National Lunch Program forms that were turned in.  Individual students are on a list with TxHHS but not the district, therefore the district as a whole is not a CEP district.

Due to the COVID pandemic last year, Groesbeck ISD received a funds through the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program and Seamless Summer Option to feed all students breakfast and lunch.  These funds were and are not associated with the P-EBT.  We will receive the USDA funds again this year, and students will not have to pay for breakfast or lunch.  Al la carte items will be available for purchase.

Students are eligible for the P-EBT program by meeting one of the requirements below:

  1. Qualified/Certified for free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program or TEA’s Socioeconomic Form.  For the 2020-21 school year, this form must have been submitted by June 30, 2021.  This form was on yellow paper and was given out at the beginning and throughout the 2020-21 school year.  This year, parents/guardians must complete the socioeconomic form in the student registration process.
  2. A student attended a Community Eligible Provision (CEP) school.  Although some area school districts may have participated in this program, Groesbeck ISD did not participate. Therefore, we are not a CEP school.
  3. Qualified for TANF or SNAP, or Medicaid. Head Start Program, PreK Program, Foster Care, Migrant, Homeless, or Runaway.

Note:  Deadline for the 2020-21 National School Lunch Program form must have been received by June 30, 2021 for us to enter your data.  This year parents/guardians will complete the Socioeconomic Form in the ASCENDER Parent Portal through registration.
