Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Blue Box with Coronavirus (COVID-19) Groesbeck ISD continues to closely monitor coronavirus disease

What is coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)? Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person.

Despite the challenges with COVID-19, our district will continue to provide an excellent education to our students.  The focus on the health, safety and the well-being of our staff, students, and community will remain a priority.

Groesbeck ISD will follow the recommendations for school opening and operations provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Texas Education Agency (TEA).  As changes are made, we will update this page with the new information.

Students and COVID

You MUST quarantine
for 10 days.

If you have met the CDC’s definition of close contact with an individual (especially someone in your household)…

You must quarantine for 10 days (or 7 if you receive a negative lab-confirmed test on/after day 5).  Monitor for symptoms for 14 days.  If symptoms do arise, then you must quarantine for 10 additional days.

NOTE:  If you receive a physician’s return by date, GISD must go by the phsician’s order.

Students absent due to a COVID related incident, will be coded with a “9” for attendance purposes.  These absences will be excused absences.  Please keep in mind that all students are bound bythe law, (Texas Edcuation Code – EDUC § 25.085) which requires studens to be in attendance at least 90% of their classes to receive credit.  Therefore, if a student exceeds the limit of absences (excused or not) they may be required to make up time.
